SAPEA events at ESOF 2018

At ESOF 2018 (9 – 14 July) two sessions will feature SAPEA speakers and recent reports from SAPEA and the European Commission Group of Chief Scientific Advisors.

10.15-11.30, Wednesday 11 July:  Citizens and science advice – challenges and opportunities of participatory science advice

Speakers from the Scientific Advice Mechanism and other science advice bodies will  discusses experience and lessons learned drawing on the experience of SAM and other science advice structures, and aims at identifying best practice. This includes an interactive discussion with the audience on new ways of bringing science advice and citizens closer together.

10.15-11.30, Wednesday 11 July: Carbon capture and utilisation for climate change: hype or hope? 

In this session speakers including Elvira Fortunato (European Commission Group of Chief Scientific Advisors), David Vevicato (Total) and Robert Schloegl (SAPEA Working Group chair for CCU) will discuss how businesses are addressing climate change, in relation to CCU (carbon capture and utilisation), and how EU climate change strategy affects business practices.
