New approaches to science for policy: an international SAPEA conference

This one-day SAPEA conference will explore new approaches to science for policy from a variety of stakeholder perspectives. The conference will be hosted by the Estonian Academy of Sciences in Tallinn.  It is closely linked to the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research’s conference week European research excellence: value and impact for society

Participants of the conference can look forward to stimulating talks.  A highlight is TV presenter and academic, Professor Brian Cox, speaking on citizen engagement.

Policymakers and politicians will give their perspective on how scientific advice is involved in decision-making.  Leading scientists will discuss how they see the interface between research and policymaking.

Rounding off the conference will be a panel on the role of NGOs and corporations in the provision of scientific advice for policy.
